Low Income Assistance

There is assistance available for singles and couples who meet the eligibility requirements for low incomes and who have little in savings or other assets. Contact the Social Security Administration to see if you qualify for extra help to help pay for a Part D plan. Apply online

Eligibility:

Your eligibility depends on your annual income (All income from retirement benefits and other income you would report for your tax purposes) and resources. If your income is less than $15,600 for single individuals (with no dependents) or $21,000 for a married couple living together (with no dependents) and your assets (property besides your primary residence) are less than $11,990 if you are single or $23,970 if you are married and living with your spouse than you may qualify for extra help paying for Medicare prescription drug costs*. These resource amounts include $1,500 per person for burial expenses. The amount of extra help you get is based on your income and resources.
