FamilyCare Selects RxAmerica To Provide PBM Services for Medicare and Medicaid

December 8, 2005 - SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - RxAmerica recently announced that it was selected to provide pharmacy benefit management services to FamilyCare Health Plans, Inc.'s Medicare Part D prescription drug programs starting Jan. 1, 2006. FamilyCare, one of the oldest managed Medicaid programs in Oregon, will also retain RxAmerica as its pharmacy benefit manager for its existing Medicaid programs.

"We have enjoyed managing the prescription benefits for FamilyCare for the past three years and look forward to continuing that relationship and supporting their efforts with the new Medicare Part D program," said John Gardynik, RxAmerica president. "Our efforts to manage FamilyCare's drug costs have earned us a reputation for aligning our incentives with their economic needs. We have focused on implementing new clinical programs, managing prior authorizations on particular medications and promoting generic drug usage to reduce costs," Gardynik said.

FamilyCare is offering two Medicare Advantage Plans effective Jan. 1, 2006. The plans are PremierCare, which is a commercial MA-PD product, and PremierCare Plus for those Medicare enrollees that also are eligible for Medicaid. These new programs will help Medicare-eligible members receive the medications they need at a discounted cost through RxAmerica's pharmacy network and formulary.
